Skilled Machinist – Heavy Milling

SUMMARY

Hours:
Basic of 36 hours per week with opportunity for overtime.

Responsibilities include:

  • Machining parts from 1m to 5m in length.
  • Following offline programming documents which include job set-up, tooling sheets & methods required for machining sequences.
  • Changing tools/inserts & alter offsets to maintain parts to required engineering specifications.
  • Downloading CNC programs and save proven files.
  • Operating manual machining centers if/when applicable.
  • Measure and inspect manufactured items to assure accuracy to the drawing and report any deficiencies to the inspector and your manager.
  • Identify equipment maintenance and repair needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Produce work to the quality standard required whilst keeping waste to a minimum.
  • Follow written instructions, safe working practices and to always maintain a safe and tidy work area.
  • Help improve safety, quality and productivity through the continual improvement process.

Key Attributes:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience using multi-axis CNC milling machines.
  • Ideally with experience of gantry style equipment with universal head Fanuc control.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
  • Have high levels of concentration and focus to achieve production targets and scheduled customer deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience of lifting using overhead cranes & setting/clamping of large parts up to 5 tonnes.
  • Evidence of training in safe use of overhead cranes & forklift truck preferred.
